Beard hair transplant is a hair restoration procedure where high-quality hair follicles are harvested from the donor area, commonly the back or sides of the scalp. These hair follicles are then implanted very precisely onto the beard area to increase density, provide shape, and fill any uneven spots. It is mainly meant for people with less facial hair growth who have thin patches due to deflective growth, or totally do not have a beard-a concern that might be genetic, accidental, or maybe even due to some underlying cause.

There are two main concerning methods: The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and The FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation). Each of these two treatment procedures is usually very minimally invasive, such that it may be performed under local anesthesia. While in FUE, individual hair follicles are extracted, in FUT, a strip of tissue with hair follicles is taken out. The patient will be given a choice after listening to the options from the doctor.

Once beard hairs are transplanted, they appear natural, begin growing, and merge with the existing facial hairs present. It usually takes months for new transplanted hairs to develop fully and gain proper thickness. Some swelling, redness, or very mild pain at points of landmarking may be expected; however, this usually subsides in a few days. This fuller-shaped beard closes the void and deeply complements one’s personality and confidence once diligent care is taken post-procedure and thereafter.
